16D15N Travel Itinerary in EUROPE (Part 1 London, United Kingdom)

We finally booked the tickets for our Europe trip and went for our dream vacation for 16 days! And its our 7th wedding anniversary trip! :) Honestly, planning a long trip can be a daunting task. There is just too much information available via online platforms. But one question that comes up frequently was “How do we put this all together? Tell us where and how to start.” And our next question was, “How much does it cost to travel to six countries in Europe?” With all these information and readings that we’ve gathered for our trip, we would like to help our readers as much as we can and that’s why we are posting our six countries (UK (London), France (Paris), Switzerland, Austria, Germany & Netherlands) 16D15N travel itinerary on budget here.

Honestly, for this trip we spent around MYR9XXX/person (including return flight tickets and accommodation). All the trains and accommodation booking were pre-booked 3-4 months in advance. Our budget wasn’t very impressive, so this trip definitely belongs to the “budget travelers”.

Before we book the flight tickets, we’ve decided that the best starting point would be London (UK) since the flight tickets from Penang → Singapore → London was quite reasonable for both of us. For independent travelers who don’t like to use local travel agents, and prefer to plan your own itinerary like us, this post is for you.

So, for this trip we assigned 3 days for London (UK).

We arrived in London around 7.00pm and checked-in YHA London St Pancras near to King Cross station. We refreshed ourselves and went out straight for dinner at Burger & Lobster in Soho. We went for a nice evening walk, but mostly all shops and outlets were already closed. But still, we loved seeing all the Londoners enjoying themselves in the bistros on a Friday night weekend outings.

London's Calling!

A lake in London's oldest parks in the St James's Park

The main attractions in London are well-known. The Westminster Abbey Cathedral, Big Ben, Tower Bridge and the Buckingham Palace are the iconic landmarks, not to-be missed. The main attractions can be reached by underground / tube. We also had the opportunity to wander around the beautiful outdoors and lakes, St James Park as we walked towards Buckingham Palace. The Changing of Guard ceremony was a fun and historical event that nobody should leave London without seeing, and will cost you nothing.

The St. Paul's Cathedral dominates the city’s historic church scene. Further afield, Coca-Cola London Eye and Cannon Street are also worth a visit.

The oyster card is a-must when you travel in London. You can use the Oyster card for bus, tube or underground, tram, DLR, London Overground services. Be aware that London buses no longer accept cash, so you'll need an Oyster card to get on board!

Remember also not to miss the Platform 9 ¾ Harry Potter Shop if you’re at the King Cross St Pancras station!
Let's meet at platform 9 3/4
Burger and Lobster is definitely a-must in your bucket list!
London Fish and Chips!
When we were doing our research for eating spots in London, one of the restaurants that kept popping out was Burger & Lobster. And so, we went there for dinner on our first night in London. There are only three items on the menu – burger, lobster and lobster roll – and at £20 each. We had the lobster roll since it’s highly recommended. The set comes with a bucket of fries and side salad. Overall, it was simple, fun atmosphere, and delicious!
Tower Bridge in London is one of the most recognizable bridges in the world

Cheap eats are also everywhere in London! Remember to stop by Borough Market (while you’re on your way to London Bridge and Tower Bridge). There you’ll see plenty of fresh groceries, fruits and English eateries for you to try-out. Ohh yes, the London fish & chips from Fish!Kitchen at Borough Market is a-must too.

So, we’re done with London. And we departed from London on the 3rd day of our visit for Paris via Eurostar. Stay tuned for our next post on Paris (France)!
