Honestly, for this trip we spent around MYR9XXX/person (including return flight tickets and accommodation). All the trains and accommodation booking were pre-booked 3-4 months in advance. Our budget wasn’t very impressive, so this trip definitely belongs to the “budget travelers”.
Before we book the flight tickets, we’ve decided that the best starting point would be London (UK) since the flight tickets from Penang → Singapore → London was quite reasonable for both of us. Top of Europe |
A visit to the Jungfraujoch puts a jewel in the crown of any visit to Switzerland |
On the Top of Europe |
At 3466m high and nestled between the famous mountains on Mönch and Jungfrau, it's no surprise the Jungfraujoch is often described as the 'Top of Europe' |
Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe was high on my Switzerland bucket list. Why? For starters, it’s the highest train station in Europe (3,454 meters). Secondly, the views on the way to Jungfraujoch and from the top are indeed spectacular!
Some basic facts about
Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe:
- Jungfraujoch is also known as “Top of Europe”, because it’s the highest train station in Europe at 3,454 meters.
- Jungfraujoch is accessible by train from Interlaken, Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen and Kleine Scheidegg.
- The train ride up to Jungfraujoch (3454m) is one of Switzerland's classic experiences.

There
are plenty of things that one can do at the Jungfrau region, so it’s impossible
for me to list them all. But at the bare minimum, you should try to cover all
these below!
- Jungfrau Panorama cinematic experience
- Sphinx Observatory
- Alpine Sensation Hall
- Ice Palace
- Glacier Plateau (view of Jungfrau and Aletsch Glacier)
- Chocolate and souvenir shops

Still amazing to me |
The
view might not have been clear on the top, but the experience was still
great and I got some killer views on the train ride down the mountain
range. Plus, it’s not every day you’re at the top of a mountain, almost being
blown off :b

Jungfraujoch isn’t just about the spectacular view! |
At around 2pm, we bid goodbye to the snow and fresh mountain air and made our way back to Grindelwald. The
train journey was spectacular too with views of the top mountains. All in all,
the trip to Jungfraujoch was totally worth it! We thoroughly enjoyed the train
trip and the activities at the top of the mountain.
